2009 update...
The 2009 NJ Kid with Cancer Benefit was a great success. Four families, identified with the help of a local pediatric cancer center, were the focus of a fall Walkathon Fundraiser and a Harvest Festival, both held on The Church of the Hills campus.
The NJ Kids with Cancer Walkathon involved a direct mail campaign to friends and families asking for sponsorship for each walker. Donations came flowing in and supporters put on their sneakers for the two hour walk. The walkathon was followed by a well-attended Harvest Festival filled with all sorts of activities and food. Vendors such as Willie's Tavern and others donated both their food and time to the event. Clowns, games, inflatables and more made the day extra special for everyone.
The NJ Kids families attending were a key part of the festivities and graciously received the donations collected for them. While the event took place in October, donations are still arriving to this date. Due to the generosity and kindness of so many, our NJ Kids - Christian, Kian, Kevin and Joshua, will be receiving additional donations to help offset the tremendous financial burdens brought on by this disease.
On behalf of the 'Kids', their families and all the volunteers, thank you for your support. Your compassion, generosity and prayers are deeply appreciated.
Why are we walking?
Each year, unfortunately, thousands of children contract a form of cancer. The effect on the children and their families is devastating, both financially and emotionally. Strained for time and resources, distraught parents work day and night to meet the needs of their sick child while maintaining a minimal standard of living for themselves and the rest of their family. For many the burden is too much. 4NJKIDS.com with the help of the Church of the Hills conducts an annual benefit to help alleviate the significant financial burden these families incur. Your financial support represents the extension of a compassionate helping hand to those that need it most.
The New Jersey Kids with Cancer Benefit is made possible by the efforts of caring organizations, volunteers and partners just like you. All of the proceeds from the benefit go DIRECTLY to the families identified as those in greatest need.

How do you choose beneficiaries?
Beneficiaries are selected from a list provided by social work teams servicing local hospitals and children's cancer centers. These centers have been responsible for the identification of all recipients to date.
The 2009 benefit walkathon will take place on October 24th as part of our annual Harvest Party and 4th Annual New Jersey Kids with Cancer Benefit Event. The event will run from 10:00am - 5:00pm EDT. Please join us for a day filled with family fun, food, games, prizes and more.
(Walkathon from 10am-12 noon followed by the Harvest Party picnic).
